Michael J. Musacchio, Jr., M.D. is a highly skilled neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery who brings a great depth of knowledge and expertise to the Center for Spine Care. With a focus on conservative care and minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Musacchio offers a highly specialized approach to spine care.

Dr. Musacchio grew up in Plano, TX, and received his Bachelor of Science degree with Highest Distinction from the University of Illinois. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed his General Surgery Internship and Neurosurgical Residency at Rush University Medical Center. During his neurosurgical residency, Dr. Musacchio received extensive training in minimally invasive spine surgery and has made this the primary focus of his medical practice.

Dr. Musacchio has received numerous awards and honors of distinction for his academic and research achievements including being awarded the Rush University Neurosurgical Resident Teacher of the Year Award three years in a row. He has presented his work at many national and international meetings, and his clinical research has been published in several peer-reviewed scientific publications. Dr. Musacchio has a special interest in teaching surgical techniques and serves as an advisor to various medical device companies in the development of minimally-invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Musacchio is a member of many medical organizations such as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons; Congress of Neurological Surgeons; Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery; North American Spine Society; and Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Musacchio is Board certified in Neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
